Title: Feeding and managing dairy replacement heifers for future optimal performance

Presenter: Dr. Alex Bach
UBC is proud to welcome Dr. Alex Bach, a prolific and innovative researcher in the field of dairy nutrition. Alex is from Barcelona, Spain. He obtained his Veterinary degree in Barcelona Spain, and then went to Minnesota for a Masters and a PhD in Dairy Science. After graduation, he went to work in the research department of a multinational feed company. In 2003, he went back to academia as director of the newly created (at that time) department of ruminant production of IRTA (a government-funded research institute). His main research interests are nutrition and management of dairy cattle, especially calves and heifers. Alex will be working out of the Dairy Centre in Agassiz until July 31st running calf and heifer trials then will be in Vancouver until August 29th.
