On July 25, 2015, more than 900 people visited UBC’s Dairy Education and Research Centre in Agassiz during its annual Open House. Visitors arrived from across the country, as well as from as far away as France.
The Open House has seen an increasing number of visitors each year, as it provides an opportunity for visitors to learn about the importance of the cow’s key role in the production of nutritious foods, directly from the Dairy Centre’s researchers.
From 9 am – 4 pm, visitors explored the Dairy Centre and heard from 30 students at 12 different stations talk about their research. They also enjoyed a glass of cold chocolate milk, donated by the BC Dairy Association, while they discussed with students the internationally recognized teaching and research activities at the Centre. Cyclists of the Agassiz Farms Cycle Tour, a 25-km self-guided cycle tour, also stopped by to visit during the day.
