Opportunities
The Dairy Education and Research Centre hosts multiple research projects, with the majority focused on the topics of reproductive biology and dairy cattle welfare. We welcome researchers from all fields to collaborate and make use of the facilities and experience the unique qualities of an active research farm that is financially self-sustaining.
Graduate Students
A primary role of the UBC Dairy Education and Research Centre is to engage in research activities. Most of the research takes place as part of the education process of MSc and PhD students who are registered in UBC’s Applied Animal Biology Graduate Program and supervised by a UBC faculty member. With a two-decade record of training and inspiring the next generation of industry leaders and scientists, the UBC Dairy Education and Research Centre offers graduates outstanding opportunities to live, learn and work on a farm devoted to engaging in dairy research. Our state-of-the-art equipment and facilities enable our MSc and PhD students, postdoctoral fellows and visiting scholars to develop innovative solutions to pressing dairy sector challenges.
Our purpose-built dairy research farm is located on federal lands in Agassiz B.C.; we work at creating a welcoming, campus-like setting where scholars from around the world connect with a collaborative team of faculty, staff and visiting academics. This promotes an interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge where graduates and their research thrive.
