Some special features of the Energy and Nutrient Recovery Facility:
Recovered phosphorus from animal manure
- The research equipment in this facility is under development with UBC’s Department of Civil Engineering
- It currently emphasizes development of technology to recover phosphorus from animal manures in the form of struvite which can be used as a slow release fertilizer (see photo)
- Struvite from dairy manure was first produced at the Dairy Centre in July 2011
